Sometimes saving sniffs with Sniffie Extension may fail, which is unfortunate. This guide helps you to troubleshoot such instances.

How are errors shown

When you save your sniff, a saving modal appears. If the saving is successful, you get a confirmation modal. If the saving is not successful, the saving modal changes to the error modal that gives you the cause for the error. These are explained below.

Sometimes you may get the error message displayed in the below photo. Sniffie engineering has not yet been able to reproduce the error reliably. However, the sniff should still have been saved correctly (check your data sources in Sniffie service). To fix the error, just reload the page or navigate away from the page. We apologize for the inconvenience and our engineering team does their best to find the cause and fix it to ensure the error should never occur.

Possible error messages in saving sniffs

 

Could not authenticate your request to your account (API key renewed or you are logged in another Sniffie browser extension). Please reset your extension and login again.

Basically means that the request your tried to perform could not be authenticated to your account. Reset your extension and login again.

Saving permissions have been disabled by master user. Contact your master user to restore permissions.

Occurs only for fellow users that used to have editor or administrator permissions. This means that you no longer have sufficient permissions to your organization’s data. Contact your organization’s master user to ask for sufficient permissions.

Account quota exceeded for this month. If you think this is an error, please contact Sniffie support.

You are above your account’s request quota for this month. Upgrade your plan to increase this quota.

Maximum amount of active urls exceeded for last 24h. If you think this is an error, please contact Sniffie support.

You have more active urls than are allowed by your account. Upgrade your plan to increase the quota for active urls.

Errors that should never occur in saving sniffs

Your personal API key was not sent with the request. Try resetting the extension. If the problem persists, please contact Sniffie support.

This is an error that should never happen. You should contact Sniffie support in such instances so the engineering team can look into the problem.
